The first Finnish International School in Myanmar

Country: Myanmar
Actions:– Analysing the current education system
– Conducting a comprehensive PPEST-analysis, market analysis and competitor analysis
Results:– Recognized the imminent need for an alternative curriculum to set a positive example of a student-centered learning and emphasize 21st century skills in the Myanmar education system
– Project plan for school design and set-up of Finnish International School Myanmar
Period:January 2021 – June 2021

On-line implementation for feasibility study

The goal for the project preparation and feasibility study is to gain a broad understanding of the target country and create a project plan for school design and set-up for a Finnish International School in Myanmar.

Polar Partners performed the analysis online due to the global pandemic and traveling restrictions to Myanmar. Despite the challenging situation, our team was able to conduct the study which included a PPEST-analysis with pedagogical, political, social, economic, and technological environment aspects, as well as market and competitor analyses. The analysis was conducted through interviews with a wide range of stakeholders (national governmental institutions, national education institutions, NGOs, and the private sector), document reviews, and several workshops with the client.

As a result, our team and the client gained a deeper understanding both in terms of the rationale for setting up the first Finnish International School (FIS) in Myanmar and the priorities, challenges, and added values for the future school. Our project management team created a timeline and budget framework for the school establishment process for the implementation phase.
