Professional Education

Professional skills are learned best with a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical training in school and real work-life experience during internship periods.

Training for the 21st Century Pro's

We need to prepare students for the jobs of the future. Our professional education concept provides them with the needed practical and work-life-oriented skills to successfully navigate an ever-changing, technology-rich work environment combined with an entrepreneurial mindset and skillset. Now the professional path is a viable alternative to the the academic path after basic education. Our professional education concept is divided into three themes: learning environments, curriculum and teaching & assessment methods.

Real life learning environments

Our professional education concept includes a school building design with fully functional workshops, including the latest professional tools and equipment.

Students will be using the latest software and technological innovations, such as augmented reality, to be open and able to use the full potential of technology later in work life.

Significant amount of the professional learning happens during the internship module, in a local workplace with the guidance of teachers, professional colleagues and real customers.

Competence-based curriculum

Students choose from various modules and personalise their vocational competences. Studies include also general skills like languages, mathematics and ICT.

Students learn the critical 21st century skills including creativity, communication and cultural awareness. Entrepreneurial skills are part of every professional program and prepare students for starting their own business or to working as a very productive employee.

After graduation the students have the possibility to continue to enter into employment, to continue specialist vocational studies or move on to higher education programs.

Teaching and Assessment Methods for professional skills

Studies include both theoretical and practical tasks of the profession. Teachers give more autonomy and space to students after the basic level, so the students can start designing, creating and experimenting with their new skills in the safe environment of the school.

With basic level skills, the students will be ready to start an internship at a local business.Students get continuous formative assessment and feedback of their individual skill development. Final grades are given based on a skill demonstration in a real workplace.
